Teddy bear challenge

posted October 8th, 2008

teddybearIt is that time of year again! Dr. Bill Fulkerson’s 7th Annual Teddy Bear Challenge for the Teddy Bear Ball has begun. Last year’s challenge was a huge success with more than 300 bears donated to help raise money for Duke Children’s Health Center.

Here’s how you can help:

The Challenge is to you and your department to enter bears that you have decorated. You compete with your peers for prizes. Prizes are awarded in various categories, and include two tickets to the Teddy Bear Ball and dinner for two.

The bears are due by Wednesday, Oct. 29, and can be dropped off in the Hospital Administration Suite, Room 14209 Red Zone, Duke South. Judging will take place on Friday, Oct. 31 and the winners will be announced by the end of that day. For additional information about the Challenge, please contact Corrine Starke or Suzy Johnson at 684-1860.

Decorated teddy bears should represent a theme from one of the following auction categories: Trips & Getaways; Sports & Recreation; Children’s Art; Dinning & Entertaining; Clothing, Jewelry, etc.; Deck the Walls; Children’s Corner; Home & Garden; Beary Beautiful.

Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center’s 19th Annual Teddy Bear Ball will be held Friday, Dec. 5 at the Durham Marriott and Civic Center.  The evening begins with cocktails, and continues with great food and a silent auction.

Help the kids, and have fun doing it. For more information on the Teddy Bear Ball or to view pictures from last year’s event, visit www.dukechildrens.org.
