Test set for alert system
posted October 6th, 2008At about 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, Duke University will conduct a test of the various communication tools of the DukeALERT notification system.
This will be the first simultaneous test of all the tools: emergency e-mail, an emergency Web site (including blog capability and an RSS feed), a telephone recording, the outdoor warning system and text messaging.
Duke’s emergency website is at www.emergency.duke.edu.
After the test, members of the Duke community will be encouraged to respond to an online survey to assess the effectiveness of the various communication methods. Duke officials hope the exercise, which they plan to repeat periodically, will raise awareness of the system among members of the campus community and also identify any areas needing improvement.
More information about Tuesday’s test.
