posted November 17th, 2008

nosmokingsymbolJoin thousands of smokers pledging to quit for at least one day on Thursday, Nov. 20—the American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout 2008.

During the week of the Great American Smokeout, LIVE FOR LIFE coaches will be on hand to speak with employees about how to quit, how to help others quit, and how to find a program that best fits their needs.

Stop by the information tables to get information on preparing to quit. You can also sign-up for a LIFE for LIFE tobacco cessation support program. Information tables will be available Nov. 18-20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Duke Hospital Atrium Cafeteria, the Duke Clinic Food Court, and the Durham Regional Cafeteria.

Also in celebration of the Great American Smokeout you can enter a raffle to win a “Cold Turkey.” (Actually it’s a frozen turkey.) Make this year’s Great American Smokeout your quit date.More than 70 percent of smokers say they want to quit, and one of the most powerful motivators for doing so is a tobacco-free environment. Learn about free research-tested programs and expanded benefits provided by Duke to help you quit more at the 32nd-annual Great American Smokeout.

For more information or to enroll in any of the tobacco cessation options, visit www.hr.duke.edu/tobaccofree, or call LIVE FOR LIFE at 684-3136, option 3.
